Most people go through their day thinking that their results are shaped by circumstances, by other people, or by the goals they set once or twice a year. But the truth is much simpler — and far more powerful.
Every repeated thought, every emotion you allow to dominate your inner world, every belief you consciously or unconsciously accept… it all forms the foundation of your self-image. And your self-image — not your goals — determines the direction of your life.
This is the message I shared in Mastershow #6 – Live Your Ideal, and it's one of the most overlooked truths in personal development.
Because it is easy to set goals.
It is easy to say we want a new level of success.
But few people look at the silent patterns that shape their identity every single day.
In this blog, I want to take you deeper into two essential ideas:
When you understand these two principles, you unlock the ability to create results that most people consider impossible.
Let’s dive in.
Every moment, your mind is forming impressions. When you repeat the same thoughts and emotional habits day after day, your subconscious accepts them as truth. That truth becomes your identity. And your identity becomes your behavior.
This is why you don’t get what you want — you get what you are.
Your dominant thoughts = your dominant identity
Ask yourself honestly:
Whatever you focus on becomes your internal “normal.” If you dwell on problems, you start to feel like a person with problems. If you dwell on possibilities, you grow into someone who creates solutions.
Your subconscious doesn’t judge what you think.
It simply accepts it.
And then it turns it into behavior.
This is why you can consciously say, “I want success,” while still unconsciously living in the vibration of doubt or fear.
Your subconscious mind shapes 95% of your behavior
Most people try to change their results through effort alone — more work, more hours, more pressure. But that approach works against the natural laws of the mind.
The subconscious mind, which controls the majority of your behavior, responds only to emotionalized thoughts and repetition. It cannot distinguish between what is real and what is vividly imagined.
So every time you worry, overthink, or repeat a limiting belief, you are giving your subconscious a direct instruction:
“This is who I am.”
The mind accepts that identity and starts producing actions that match it.
On the flip side, when you intentionally choose thoughts that align with your goals — gratitude, clarity, confidence, possibility — you build an identity capable of achieving what you desire.
This is how you live your ideal instead of living by default.
There is a constant tug-of-war happening in your mind. And no matter where you are in life, this battle determines every choice you make:
Fear pulls you back.
Faith pulls you forward.
Fear and faith both activate your imagination — the difference is what they direct it toward.
Fear: Imagining what you don’t want
Fear is not always dramatic. It often shows up subtly:
Fear is a misuse of imagination — picturing a future where things go wrong. The moment you give attention to that picture, your body reacts emotionally, and your behavior contracts.
Fear shrinks your vision.
Fear keeps you in the known.
Fear protects your identity, not your potential.
This is why so many people stay within their comfort zone, even when that zone no longer serves them.
Faith: Imagining what you do want
Faith is the ability to see beyond circumstances. It allows you to believe in possibilities that are invisible to the eye but deeply real to your higher self.
When you choose faith:
Faith gives you the ability to create what most people consider impossible. Not because it magically changes the world around you, but because it changes you — the person interacting with that world.
Fear blocks. Faith builds.
Most people think fear is the enemy.
But fear is simply a signal — a sign that you’re stepping outside old paradigms.
Faith is the antidote.
Faith is the higher mental faculty that allows you to hold the image of what you want, even when your current results seem far from it.
The moment you replace fear with faith, your mind shifts from reaction to creation.
This is when breakthroughs begin.
Bob Proctor taught that your self-image is the thermostat of your life. No matter how hard you work, you will never outperform the identity you hold of yourself.
You might achieve a temporary upgrade…
But you will eventually return to the level your self-image is set to.
Why?
Because the self-image controls:
Your self-image is shaped by what you become all day long.
And fear or faith determines the direction of that becoming.
If worry dominates your day → your self-image shrinks.
If faith dominates your day → your self-image expands.
This is why personal development is not about motivation — it is about self-transformation.
When you shift your inner identity, your external world must follow.
To truly live your ideal, you must do more than think positively. You must shift your paradigms — the collection of subconscious beliefs that dictate your behavior.
Here is how you begin that process:
Step 1: Become aware of your dominant thoughts
You cannot change what you’re not conscious of.
Pay attention to the emotional tone of your day.
Step 2: Interrupt fear at the moment it appears
Fear only grows when you engage it.
Replace fear-based predictions with faith-based images the moment they show up.
Step 3: Use repetition to install new thoughts
Your subconscious learns through repetition and emotion.
Consistently imagine the version of yourself who already lives your goal.
Step 4: Act from the identity you want, not the one you have
This is the key.
Identity shifts through action — not waiting for the “right moment.”
When you act in alignment with faith, your mind updates the picture of who you believe you are.
When you operate from fear, everything becomes harder.
When you operate from faith, everything becomes possible.
Faith gives you the power to:
This is not mystical.
This is mindset science aligned with universal law.
Your results rise to meet the identity you hold with conviction.
And that identity is shaped by what you become all day long.
If you want your results to change, you must begin with your thoughts — because your thoughts become your identity, and your identity becomes your destiny.
When you replace fear with faith, you open the door to a future that reflects your potential, not your limitations.
So ask yourself today:
“What am I becoming all day long — and who do I choose to become next?”
That choice is where your transformation begins.
